Hovander Homestead Bluegrass Festival (“HHBGF”) is a fundraiser for the Whatcom County Parks & Recreation Foundation (WPRF), a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization of citizens dedicated to supporting parks (including Hovander Homestead Park where this festival is held each year), trails, and recreational opportunities throughout Whatcom County, its cities and communities.
HHBGF scouts for talent each year to bring a professional bluegrass music festival to Whatcom County. Artists and their music are reviewed by the Executive Committee each year. Once a decision is made by the committee, those artists chosen will be contacted to engage in next steps. Main Stage performers entertain between the hours of Noon and 8pm, Saturday and Sunday and are asked to perform workshops which is just one of the many things HHBGF is known for.
Performers on this stage are artists well versed in providing both traditional and/or progressive bluegrass music, masters of their craft, and are well known for their entertainment prowess in providing a show that grasps and maintains the attention of their audiences. HHBGF also looks for those artists who have a loyal and large following.
