Hovander Homestead Bluegrass Festival (HHBGF) is a fundraiser for the Whatcom County Parks & Recreation Foundation (WPRF), a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization of citizens dedicated to supporting parks (including Hovander Homestead Park where this festival is held each year), trails, and recreational opportunities throughout Whatcom County, its cities and communities.
The Shade tree Showcase Stage is a big hit at the festival. The stage is positioned near the front gate so those entering the festival will be met with live bluegrass music between the hours of 9am and 1pm on Saturday and Sunday of the festival. Although there is no pay for playing on this stage, all artists accepted to perform, receive 1 free, full-weekend pass (does not including camping). Artists chosen will also be listed under our Shade Tree Showcase Lineup Web Page and in the Festival Program to provide additional exposure to the public.
Performing on this stage provides emerging artists an opportunity to showcase their talent to attendees and staff at the festival. Although it may not always be the case, Shade Tree Showcase performers have gone on to be Main Stage Performers. Artists and their music are reviewed by the Executive Committee each year. Once a decision is made, chosen artists will be contacted with next steps. Shade Tree Showcase
