Who We Are

The Hovander Homestead Bluegrass Festival is a joint venture between the Whatcom Parks and Recreation Foundation (WPRF) , the Whatcom County Parks and Recreation Department and 5 Starr Jam. Its primary purpose is to help raise funds for the WPRF as well as Hovander Homestead Park itself.

The Whatcom Parks and Recreation Foundation (WPRF) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization whose main purpose is to “support and promote parks, trails and recreational opportunities throughout Whatcom County and its communities”. Part of the proceeds from the Hovander Homestead Bluegrass Festival will go to help strengthen the foundation and its mission.

Whatcom County Parks and Recreation Department
Whatcom County is blessed with some of the finest county parks and trails in the US and it is the responsibility of the WCPRD to plan, maintain and operate these parks for the present and future generation citizens of Whatcom County. A portion of the proceeds from the Hovander Homestead Bluegrass Festival will go to help maintain Hovander Homestead Park itself including the animal contact area.

5 Starr Jams
5 Starr Jams runs a monthly bluegrass/acoustic music jam in Bellingham on the last Saturday afternoon of the month. Offering opportunities for bluegrass and acoustic musicians of all stripes and talents, 5 Starr monthly Jams is a don’t-miss fun time jam for everyone to get together in a fun environment and play music together.
